THE LAST STAND
Three years ago we met on 'The Immortal'
A stately ship was she sailing through every portal
Logical as I am, i tried to understand,
What binding force kept the crew, always at hand?
It wasn't gravity or magnetism and not even friction
It was something even more powerful and was called 'Affection'
'The Immortal', captained by none other than 'Friendship'
So grand and stately, she was worthy of worship.
Just as I sat down with my pen to write,
I was engaged with Friendship in a heated fight.
I questioned, "Who gave you the right?
To bring us so close, then make us long for each other sight?"
Friendship was quiet like a breeze, calm and mild,
He smiled and replied, "O my dear, Child!
Friendship is a bond; it takes tough tests it life
It's much more useful than any gun or knife."
In a flash I recalled the past three years,
How each one of us, fought against our fears
When 'The Immortal's' sails were unfurled
Hand in Hand, together, we saw the whole world
Together we sailed in the ocean of friendship
Facing difficulties and braving every hardship
Together we defeated those who tried to dismantle,
The precious vessel of our friendship, 'The Immortal'
In a year we would stand on her deck one last time together
Wondering, would life be from now only fair-weather?
When the end nears, we would look at each other
My emotions not being in control is what I fear!
I will try to console my mind
"Friends depart, but Friendship does bind"
Brave though the words, they won't comfort my silly brain
I won't be able to control the tears falling down like heavy rain.
From that day on, we will have our own vessels to captain
But 'The Immortal', has shown us worthy goals to attain
I will remember that 'Last Stand' while time's still smiling
And in that glow see the future of A NEW BEGINNING...
